Erica Yuen Nei Ming takes first MHK award
The Miss Hong Kong contestants have been busy filming this week in Jiangmen and after the evening talent event, the award for "Tourism Ambassador 2005" was presented to No 18 Yuen Nei Ming (Erica), who will be using her $50,000 prize money to take her family on holiday abroad, but she laughs: "I don't think it will be enough, so I will have to pay the rest!"

With experience in performing, Erica's cool and confident act won her the first award for this year. Hot favourite No 11 Siu Hiu Kai and No 13 Lee Sze Nga (Cindy) were overcome a little with stage fright and lost their lines. The girls then had to use a prop to introduce the tourist spots in Guangdong, with a lot of preparation beforehand. For Erica, she feels her success is built on everyone else's hard work too.

Although Cindy's performance was not up to speed, her mother was there to support her and this touched her greatly. Despite losing out on the award, she was not disappointed and graciously praised Erica for a great performance. She said that she was too nervous, even more so than taking part in a tennis competition before.

Guest performer Ella Koon was wearing a sexy dress for the event, but she admitted that she was not as elegant or eloquent as some of the girls. She laughed that standing next to them gave her a funny feeling that she was taking part in the contest too. After meeting the contestants for a few times, she has a deep impression of No 14 Tang Sheung Man because of her great bronze tan and also No 16 Lam Lee because she is very balanced. Ella laughs: "The girls are all very polite and even when they are queueing for the toilet, they will still let me go first! When they see me, they are all very friendly and will say hello."

Belinda Gives Producer a Good Time
TVB's new series "Sophisticated Ladies" will begin airing this weekend and a special dancing promotional event was held earlier. The cast members were split into groups to try break-dancing, salsa, jazz and hip hop and Louis Yuen and Christine Ng's Jazz dance duo took the overall winners for the event, despite Christine being accidentally slapped in the face by one of the choreographers during practice. Joyce Tang donned a shimmery short dancing dress, thanks to assistance from Belinda Hamnett and the others forming a human dressing room and Belinda herself displayed a salsa dance with producer Tsui Ching Hong, where she ended up jumping into his arms and landing her chest full on his face! This resulted in Belinda and producer Tsui winning the 'Best Partnership' award, where Belinda once again took her chance to give the bewildered producer a host of hugs and kisses. Later, he laughed that the contest was unfair, but the award still went to them.

When it was mentioned to Belinda that the producer was rather nauseous with all the attention, she laughed: "He has always been in daze around me! I was just worried he would sustain a fracture because he is quite small. To have a chance to get so close to the producer is a privelage! (Are you worried about rumours?) Isn't it a bit late to worry about these things? Don't get the wrong idea though, I am just worried that people will be jealous of us having such a good time, even Kingdom was a little scornful before!"

Christine says that she likes dancing and since her teens, she has been going to noon disco to dance. she feels that winning the award will be a sign that the show will go well andshe suggests that if they make 35 points, then the entire cast should wear Latin costumes for a dance. As for Belinda's behaviour with the producer, she laughs: "Everyone should look out to see whether Belinda has a part in the last three episodes! Just joking, our ages total over several hundred, so we will not be jealous."

As for Kingdom, she explained that she was looking at Belinda with 'admiration' because she feels Belinda is very gutsy and worth learning from. She agrees with Christine's suggestion to check on Belinda's screentime and says that the producer is sacrificing himself for the show! Originally Nat Chan had only agreed to film 14 episodes for the show, but he is having so much fun now, that he will consider continuing.

Roger and Cindy Enjoy a Cinema Date
The film "All About My Dog" held a charity premiere in aid of the SPCA and many stars were along to show their support, including Eason Chan, Candy Lo, Jerry Lamb, Lily Hong, Roger Kwok, Cindy Au, Jessica Hsuan, Felix Wong, Eddie Cheung and Anne Heung.

Roger and Cindy turned the event into a date and Roger revealed that they have recently moved into a new house and adopted a mongrel from the SPCA. He says that his girlfriend has always wanted to own a pet dog, but she couldn't when she was younger because of a skin allergy. Now she has fulfilled her wish. Roger gained some weight earlier whilst filming for "Legend of Ah Wong", but now that filming has finished, he has lost some of it again. He hopes to lose another seven or eight pounds.

Jessica was at the premiere with Mak Ging Ting and as a dog-lover herself, she was immediately beside herself with joy when she noticed the dogs at the event as she stopped to play with them and share doggy stories with the other guests. Jessica says that filming will soon be ending for "Ah Wong" and she will then be heading out to Holland and Paris for a TVBI promotion before going to England to visit some of her old schoolmates. As for the recent bombings in London, Jessica says that she is not afraid of danger, but may avoid taking the underground. She will make sure of the situation before she heads out, but she says that if things are meant to be, then there is nothing you can do to avoid it.

Anne's Views on Hair and Mr HK
Anne Heung has been appointed spokesperson recently for a haircare centre and dressed as a Greek Goddess, she took part in a press event recently with the sixteen Mr Hong Kong contestants. The organisers had also provided to semi-naked men to accompany her in her rarely seen sexy look. Her contract for a year involves a six-figure sum and she has also shoot some still picture ads for them earlier.

Anne says that her hair is quite fine, but is it not so serious that she is losing her hair. Just that sometimes it is difficult to style her hair, but after treatment, there is an improvement and there is more volume to her hair. ASked if she has any other haircare routines, she syas that she has heard about eating black sesame to make your hair colour darker, but she will not take any other medicines or put brandy on her head!

As for reports that hair styling can affect the feelings between a man and a woman, Anne says that her former boyfriends would not allow her to cut her hair short and she felt that this was very unreasonable of them and had arguments with them as a result. However, she says that in this industry, then they often have to create different hairstyles, so having long hair can be inconvenient. She also says that she is very wary of men's hair condition and when she sees men with greasy hair, it horrifies her.

The Mr HK men were all tested on the quality of their hair and an award for "Most Handsome Hair" was presented by Anne to the winner, No 4 Wong Ka Cheung, who had also won an award earlier for "Audience's Favourite" in a Shatin event. With two awards already under his belt, he is confident of a good result in the final.

Nnadia Settles Differences
After leaving home for twenty years, Nnadia Chan has recently settled her differences with her family and bought a $4 million property as a gift for her long separated mother, so that the family can live together in comfort.

When she first embarked on her showbiz career, Nnadia fell out with her family over the decision between her career and her education and went to live with her godmother, who paid for her to continue her studies. This left her apart from her family, who became strangers for twenty years.

However, the path of fate is one of surprises and in April of this year, whilst filming in Central, a girl went up to greet her. At first, she thought this was just another fan, but she thought that the face looked familiar and it was only then that she realised the girl was her sister. Nnadia was very shocked and she recalls: "Not having seen my sister for twenty years, there was a mixture of familiarity and the unknown and it was very special. The next day, my sister called me to meet my mother and with all the previous misunderstandings resolved with my maturity, then meeting her again made me find her very different as she has become a buddhist now. Thinking back, I know I was also in the wrong and for a family to be reunited, it is a stroke of good fortune. I will cherish the time that I have left with my parents and I hope that we can make up for the time we have lost in the last 20 years."

In order to provide a better living environment for her family, Nnadia has been out house-hunting with her mother and has settled on an apartment in Sum Cheng facing the sea costing $4million. She says: "It is nearly my mother's 60th birthday, so I want to give her a present. This is just a little gesture, but my mother says she already has her own property and will not accept it."

Taking over from Kit Chan in her role for the musical "Snow Wolf Lake" on its world tour, Nnadia is bringing in a healthy income, so she will not be worried at such a generous gift: "For me, income does not come first. To be able to work with Jacky Cheung and Chan Suk Fan is what makes me happier as I will gain so much! Working in the mainland and abroad has shown me so much and the response from the audience has boosted my confidence to do even better."

Shirley meets Leukamia Patient
With a charitable heart, Shirley Yeung has begun an appeal to find suitable bone marrow to help 18-year old leukaemia victim Cheung Chi Kit, who lives in London. Although they do not know each other, they were brought together by media company Orisun's charitable trust in a touching scene, where Shirley presented Chi Kit with a Snoopy encouragement card, praising her for her courage and determination and hoping she will find a suitable donor soon.

Six months ago, whilst Shirley was promoting TVB series in London, Chi Kit's mother approached her, asking if she could help with an appeal for bone marrow donors to help Chi Kit and others like her. Shirley agreed to spread the message when she returned to Hong Kong and contacted Orisun. After the news was published, many organisations have offered their assistance and in the coming year, there will be testing centres set up to find a suitable match. Touched by this, Chi Kit herself has resigned from her work as an accountant and will be appearing in person to support those helping her. On a visit to Hong Kong, the meeting between Shirley and Chi Kit was arranged.

Accompanied by her aunties, Chi Kit met Shirley at a restaurant and they exchanged a handshake and a hug. Chi Kit complimented Shirley's beauty and presented her with a crystal ornament to say thanks for her support, moving Shirley to tears. In return, Shirley gave a card full of encouraging words to Chi Kit and said: "Chi Kit is so strong and brave, full of sunshine and vitality and not showing signs of her illness. I hope that she will receive good news soon and through her we can help many other leukaemia sufferers."

Chi Kit's aunts were also very grateful to Shirley's efforts and said: "You are such a good person, the heavens will reward you." Chi Kit hopes to meet Shirley again in the future: "She is very charitable and I am very thankful for her help. I am so grateful." Just before leaving, Shirley encouraged Chi Kit to keep it up: "I will urge everyone to go for testing in the hope that we can help those who need it."

If you are interested in helping in this worthy cause and are in Hong Kong, please contact 3600 9988 for Orisun or 2819 0766 for the Hong Kong Bone Marrow Trust. (Or check your local directory for details of local bone marrow donor registers, wherever you are in the world.)
