Love Bond Promo
Michael Tao, Kenix Kwok and the cast from "Love Bond" visited an old folk's home to promote the show and entertain the residents with games and Cantonese opera renditions in a lively atmosphere.
Having worked together on a number of occasions, Michael was full of praises for his co-star Kenix and said that "Love Bond" was her finest performance so far because she was able to let her talents flow, so she stands a good chance of winning an award this year. However, he indicated that he did not want the audience to get bored, so this will be their last co-operation together for the time being as they wanted to end their partnership on a high.
When Kenix heard this, she said: "Of course I am happy to be praised by such an experienced artiste but it is still too early to talk about awards."

Bernice & Moses at Love Bond Promo
Bernice Liu and Moses Chan were also present at the "Love Bond" promo and despite an early reluctance to be photographed together, they finally gave into press requests and posed together as they wore their strange looking opera costumes.
Bernice had a rather husky voice at the event and she indicated that this was because she was filming a fire scene for "Disappearance" the day before and had inhaled a lot of smoke. She laughs that after the shoot even her snot was all black! Asked about the good ratings for "Love Bond" despite the Easter break, Bernice says she is very happy.
Over the Easter holiday period, ratings for "Love Bond" climbed by a point, even when the popularity leader "Jewel in the Palace" dropped by two points. With the storyline moving onto Bernice and Moses developing their onscreen romance, Bernice laughs that she has received mail from fans in Canada and Vietnam asking when they will be having their baby together.

Beauties at Peace @ Next TV Awards
The four female leads of "War and Beauty" were reunited at the presentation ceremony for Next Magazine's TV awards yesterday. Despite the previous rumours, the four ladies chatted and laughed together, making the most of the chance to catch up with each other and celebrate another all round win.
With her excellent portrayal of 'Yu Fei' in "War and Beauty", Sheren Tang topped the table of the 'Top Ten TV Artistes' and the press quickly raved about this being justice served for Sheren after last year's TVB Anniversary awards. When asked about this, Sheren says that this was in the past and she does not want to bring the topic up again, but she says that when she first entered the industry, she made it into the top ten alongside Chow Yun Fat and Carol Cheng and this was more of a surprise for her. She says: "When you're studying, you don't ask for grades; when you're acting you don't ask for awards. Of course, it does serve as a great encouragement for me, but I think the happiest people will be my fans who have supported me for so long as they will be very pleased."
Gigi Lai and Maggie Cheung appeared in their sexy attire at the ceremony and having been away filming in Shanghai for several months, Maggie was asked if she was going to be taking a hiatus from TVB until July. She indicated that although she has taken leave from the company until July, she still has plenty of work lined up, including a charity auction for a cancer research fund. Asked if she would be following Gigi's lead and signing with TVB on a management contract, Maggie said: "If the terms are right, then I will consider it. The ideal for me would be to spend six months a year in Hong Kong and six months a year in the Mainland as I have had a lot of new experiences working with the mainland crew." Gigi will also be heading into the Mainland soon to film for TVB series "Yellow Earth Great Plains" in Shaanxi Province and she indicates that as she will have to climb hills, she will be taking up jogging to prevent herself getting tired out. As the weather there is rather dry, Gigi is concerned about the condition of her skin.
Jessica Hsuan was rather emotional as she accepted her award. As soon as she thanked her manager Carri ma, Jessica was already in floods of tears that stayed until she left the stage and gave Carri a hug. Jessica says that she cannot help getting weepy when she mentioned Carri ma because they have worked together for eleven years since Jessica first entered the industry and their relationship is closer than a mother and daughter.
Mandy Cho was awarded "Female with Most Potential" and she indicated that this was a great encouragement for her, but when asked if she would make the top ten next year, she says it is still far too early to say.

TVB Weekly Awards Press Conference
A number of stars took part in the press conference for the 'TVB Weekly Popularity Awards', that have been dubbed as consolation prizes for those who did not win at the Anniversary celebrations last year. In response to this suggestion, TVB Production Resources Deputy Chief Lok Yee Ling said: "These awards are not just restricted to leading actors and actresses, but are open for anyone to be nominated. Also, the results will be fair as they will depend on the public vote. We will also consider revealing the vote counts."
Among the nominees provided by the panel, Charmaine Sheh, Ron Ng, Gigi Lai and Bosco Wong have all been nominated for four awards and are leading the other artistes so far.

Yuen Wah Success at HK Film Awards 2005
Veteran action star and TVB regular Yuen Wah was awarded 'Best Supporting Actor' at last week's Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony for his role in Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" that went on to take the award for "Best Film".
Taking the award despite alleged remarks from Anthony Wong about the acting abilities of him and his co-star and martial sister Yuen Chau, Yuen Wah commented in a later interview that maybe the remark was just taken in the wrong context and for him, winning awards was like gaining a certificate to ascertain his career success. In his acceptance speech, Yuen thanked everyone who has supported him all along and especially his wife who has always stood by him and supported him.
Best Actor and Best Actress awards went to Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi respectively for their roles in Wong Kar Wai's arthouse production "2046" and Best Supporting Actress was awarded to Bai Ling for "Dumplings". Best Director was Derek Yee for "One Night in Mongkok", which also took Best Screenplay. A special award was presented post-humously to Bruce Lee for "Star of the Century" and accepted on his behalf by his daughter Shannon Lee. 'Face of Hong Kong' Jackie Chan was awarded a special award for his dedication to the Hong Kong Film Industry.
The event marked the highlight of this year's Hong Kong International Film Festival and was especially significant as this year celebrates the 100th year of Hong Kong Cinema.

Abundance of TVB stars at the HK Film Awards
This year's Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony was attended by a number of high profile TVB artistes, invited as presentation guests and speakers and keen to break a route back onto the big screen after finding success on the small one.
In her capacity as grand-daughter of Hong Kong's Father of Cinema Lai Man Wai, Gigi Lai was invited to accompany Paul Chun in presenting an award for "Dedication to Hong Kong Cinema" to a veteran film archivist and academic and took her place in her orange Celine dress and over $1million of jewels alongside all the other movie stars, all showing off their finest at Hong Kong's 'Oscars'. Sheren Tang was also invited to present the award for 'Best Supporting Actress', wearing a stunning pure white dress, but she moved aside modestly when winner Bai Ling stepped onto the stage to accept her award.

Charmaine and Ekin Date Onscreen Only
Charmaine Sheh and Ekin Cheng were filming a date scene recently for new series "Always on Standby" but Ekin's character seemed rather distant because the story tells of him falling for Linda Chung and therefore rather frustrated about how to handle his two love affairs. Despite acting totally in the part on the screen, Charmaine and Ekin are keeping their distance when the cameras aren't rolling to try and avoid stirring the media's imagination.
Filming in the streets of Mongkok, Ekin was rather shocked to see that the old Lai Sing and Hoi Sing cinemas are nowhere to be seen now. Ekin says that he used to come to Mongkok a lot and even took a part time job once, selling ice cream at a dessert store, but is surprised that everything has changed so much now. If someone had not pointed it out to him, he would never have recognised the old places. Asked if he goes on dates to shopping malls, Ekin says it is not convenient now he is a public figure. He says that Charmaine is a good co-star, but when asked if he was worried about her becoming their third party, he jokes: "I never said I would let her do that!"

Short T-shirts and Press-ups Don't Mix
Cindy Au, Yoyo Chan, Nancy Wu, Iva Lo and Belle Lau took part in a TVB Agility Challenge promotion earlier and Cindy appeared not wearing the promotional t-shirt, opting for a tube top instead. She then proceeded to do press-ups on the stage, nearly showing off more than she had bargained for! The same fate befell Yoyo who had cut the t-shirt into a wide necked design.
When asked about her sexy appearance, Cindy says that she was careful to choose a top that was a size too small so that it did not slip. As for the official t-shirt, she did not know about it until she arrived and then decided to just wear her own clothes instead. "It wasn't that sexy, girls nowadays are like that and I am not so young now, so I'd like to become a little more mature looking and no longer be a cartoon character." She says that boyfriend Roger Kwok has total trust in her and does not always check on her.
As for Yoyo who tired herself out totally doing press-ups, she says: "I usually go swimming, so press-ups and sit-ups are not my strong point."

Miu and Melissa Wedding Scene
Despite the recent gossip and rumours linking Michael Miu to Melissa Ng on the set of "Disappearance", the couple in question happily filmed a wedding scene between their characters with no awkwardness or embarrassment as they both revoked the rumours together. Michael responded: "This is a simple case of creative writing based on the photographs and there is little to be annoyed about." As for Melissa, she says: "Michael is very courteous and treats everyone the same, so there is no evidence he is treating me particularly well." She is not afraid of invoking the jealousy of Michael's wife Jamie Chik because there is no chance of anything happening between them.

Mr Chan of Foshan Filming
Yuen Biao, Maggie Siu and Selena Li were filming from a hot air balloon suspended over ten feet from the ground for "Mr Chan of Foshan", but maybe because she was a little afraid, Selena seemed to keep fluffing her lines and causing retakes.
Afterwards, Selena explained: "Usually I prepare well and know all my lines so I don't have many NG's." Maggie supported her, saying: "She does not have may outtakes usually and acts very naturally. For a newcomer, she is not bad." When Selena was asked how she felt about working with Yuen Biao, she says: "At first I thought he was like a big kid, but then I realised that he was very studious, but very principled and is an excellent role model."

Ron's JSG Live Debut
Ron Ng's debut performance on 'Jade Solid Gold' last week, singing his new song 'Don't Blame Her' live on stage and winning applause from the audience and his producer, after receiving some last minute tips from Alan Tam. Ron says that he hopes to have his own album soon, but this song will be recorded onto a compilation album first for distribution.

Myolie Raps with Liza
After singing the theme songs to "Lost in the Chamber of Love" and "Scavenger's Paradise", which will be airing shortly, Myolie Wu is pleased that she will soon also be recording a rap opposite Liza Wong for her recent series "My Sassy Mother-in-Law" and she is excited to sing with Liza. Although the company is only giving them a token $10 copyright fee for the work, Myolie says she does not mind because she is happy to have the chance to sing. She laughs: "I have done so many now that I have nearly received $100!"

Bernice on Kissing
Bernice Liu, Ron Ng and Woo Fung were guests at a "TVBq Super Kids" selection event and with her ever beaming smile, Bernice was given the "Best Smile Award". Bernice reveals that during filming recently, she has had to kiss Kenneth Ma, but because they had to repeat the take many times for the camera angles, their lips nearly went numb. Asked whether Moses Chan or Kenneth was the better kisser, Bernice laughed and replied: "I don't know!".
Ron indicated that he loves children and says that his sister's daughter is one and a half and can already sing his song, making him very happy. Asked if he will let her take part in the contest, Ron says that children should concentrate on their studies and adds: "Leila Tong has said to me that as a child star, you are constantly being told what to do and this can be very stressful."

"Ah Wong" Filming starts
On the first day of filming for new series "Legend of Ah Wong", Roger Kwok and Angela Tong were shooting on location at a Sham Shui Po housing estate. Looking incredibly sweet in his turtle t-shirt and matching rucksack, Roger was asked if he had a lot of scope for creativity in his role, but Roger replied: "The producer has already said that I have to keep to the plan. The other characters can be altered, but Ah Wong has to keep exactly to the script." However, Roger does not feel that this will be boring, laughing that he is getting paid more to do the same thing, so it is not a problem!
Angela also sported a rather unusual look compared to her usual beautiful and elegant roles as she played her 'rubbish girl' character and even having to put baby oil into her hair to make it look greasy. Angela laughs that after this series has finished filming, her hair will be in great condition!

Grandad Turned Bus Driver
"My Family" stars Chung King Fai and Alex Fong were reunited during filming of a short clip for Carol Cheng's forthcoming legal affairs quiz. The screen grandfather and grandson duo changed their roles to a bus driver and passenger who have an argument over a faulty Octopus card reader. During the shoot, Alex brought out his own Octopus card and swiped it against the reader on the bus which deducted the fare of $4.30 from his card, surprising him as he laughed: "I thought it was faulty!". Alex says that as a student, he loved to sit in the seat opposite the driver because he could watch the driver driving as well as look outside at the people passing by.
King Sir was pleased to work with Alex again and indicated this was his first time behind the wheel of a bus, so it was a great experience for him.

Nnadia's hair creations
Nnadia Chan has been filming for TVB series "Barber Father Stylist Son" where she plays a short-haired tomboy character who does a lot of windsurfing, crawling under cars and mending boats. Filming a scene where she has to do a catwalk show recently, Nnadia decided to have extensions put in for the scene in order to restore her beautiful looks. With the hairpieces taking six hours to put in, Nnadia says that is not the worst thing because when she returns to the studio, she has to change her hairstyle again three times for one shoot and with each change taking half an hour, she feels guilty making the other cast wait for her.
Nnadia modelled three different looks for the scene, including Rock'n'Roll, chipao and evening dress and received praises from the cast members who said she resembled Sally Yeh and Zhang Ziyi. The scene tells of Nnadia's character having a crush on Kevin Cheng, who in turn is in love with Sharon Chan. When Sharon falls ill and cannot model for Kevin, Nnadia decides to take her place to win Kevin's heart. Nnadia laughs that in real life, she could only do this for seven days because on the eighth day, she would lose her patience.

Louis Loses Weight
Louis Yuen has joined the slimming masses after signing to be spokesperson for a slimming company and reducing his weight from 180 lbs to just 140 lbs and bringing his waist down from 36 inches to 31 inches. Brimming with confidence, Louis says that for a man in his thirties, it is time to fix himself up and try and lose the 'fat guy' image. He is very pleased after losing the weight and he has regained a lot of confidence as a result. He laughs that after losing the weight, even his own mother did not recognise him at first. Louis would not reveal how long he has signed with the company for, but says that there is an agreement to keep his weight under control during this time.

Ron, Charles and Linda film MV
Ron Ng filmed the music video to his new song "Don't Blame Her" alongside "Revolving Doors" co-star Linda Chung and "Sunshine Heartbeat" star Charles Szeto. The story of the song tells of how Ron and Linda are childhood sweethearts, but she then falls in love with Ron's friend Charles and ends up marrying him. Ron comments that in real life, he would not lose out to someone else in love because he would not enter the fight in the first place as I would rather pull out than lose a good friend. Dressed in a rather contemporary style wedding dress, courtesty of TVB wardrobe, Linda comments that she is very faithful in real life and she would never contemplate entering into a three-party affair. Charles says that if he was faced with this situation, he would think carefully about how to tackle it, but would never fall out with a friend over it.
