Audience Discomfort at Ron and Joyce
As Lydia Shum's daughter Joyce Cheng handed over her first stage kiss to Ron Ng at the Children's Songs Awards, there were sighs of disgust coming from the audience and the broadcasting authority received 54 complaints, breaking all records for this year. They indicated that Ron and Joyce's kiss caused discomfort and felt that the show did not show concern for the feelings of the audience and was demeaning towards men. TVB received one complaint that Joyce's performance was unnatural.

There has been much debate on the internet too, saying that TVB's arrangement for Ron was a 'mean trick' with even a cartoon appearing where Ron's speech bubble reads "You can chop off my head or spill my blood, but after being kissed by Joyce, I can no longer hold my head high!" and others like it. Another joker has taken a clip and looped it, showing a bead of sweat dripping from Ron's forehead.

In response to all this criticism, Lydia and Ron have both stood up for Joyce, and Lydia said laughingly on the phone: "It doesn't matter! I think that Joyce did okay and just followed the storyline. There was no harm done. She did not perform for the minority and these complaints are a little exaggerated." Ron feels that this is a small incident and does not demean men: "Joyce worked hard to sing and dance and we were just following the script. I hope everyone will give newcomers a chance." Producer Tsang Kwong Ping felt that a kiss on the cheek is very common in fairy tales: "Taste is down to the individual, but if this is by Ron fans, then they should be more embracing."

TVB announced falling ratings for last week, with only "Revolving Doors of Vengeance" holding on to 32 points. Joyce's kiss did not help the ratings for that day, slipping nine points to just 19 points.

Niki's Fearful Water Scene
Kevin Cheng, Bosco Wong and Niki Chow were filming a water scene for "Lovers Under Sky Curtains" yesterday, where the two men are fighting over Niki and jump in the water to see who can hold their breath the longest. In the end it is Niki who has to jump into the water to rescue the unconscious Bosco.

Before the cameras started rolling, Kevin was doing massage in the pool and Bosco was enjoying breakfast at the poolside, when Niki, who can't swim suddenly called out: "We're about to shoot and I am so scared! I don't know how to dive!" In the end, after the shoot was finished, she raised the victory sign and said proudly: "Luckily I can reach the ground in the water, so I am alright." Later, Niki said: "Normally it is the hero rescuing the beauty, but this time it is the other way round and I do the rescuing, but they are both so horrible. They were scaring me so much before filming and Kevin said he knows how to do artificial respiration, whilst Bosco claimed to know CPR, scaring me to death!"

As for being the object of affection for two good looking guys in the show, Niki says of herself: "I do not have such a big attraction in real life for two men to fight each other over me, but I can enjoy the feeling in the show. However, playing at breath holding is dangerous and I wouldn't want them to do these things."

For Niki's birthday, Bosco and Kevin laugh that they will give a Lamma Island pervert to her. Niki says: "They are so bad, luckily my mum and aunt have come over for seafood and dropped in on me. I am not disappointed that I can't celebrate, because to have work is a good thing and this is also my wish.

Tracy Promotes Facial Slimming
This year's Miss Hong Kong winner Tracy Yip has been surrounded by a lot of press coverage, but she has been selected to become the face of a beauty salon, landing a six-figure fee for an 18-month contract as well as receiving $100,000 of treatments for free, making her very happy indeed.

Filming for the salon's latest set of ads, Tracye was wearing a little top and some shorts to show off her healthy sexiness. She reveals that she has been suffering from water retention, causing swelling in her cheeks, but after undergoing some treatment at the salon, she has slimmed her face and this probably led to the rumours about cosmetic surgery. However, Tracy's mood was not affected and she adds: "I'll just treat it as publicity if they write about me. I do want to make it clear though that I was just having massage to reduce my water retention and I don't want this to affect the salon's business negatively. I don't mind what people say as long as I and my family are clear about me."

Salon boss Ms Chow is very caring over Tracy and not only helped her with make-up during filming, but also showed her how to pose for the cameras. Speaking of Tracy, she says: "She is very pretty and sweet and she has a very mouldable look, so I had her do some modelling for me even before she won. Now she is Miss Hong Kong, then I am really happy for her and I will celebrate with her later." Tracy says she will not disappoint anyone and will be launching into a showbiz career full swing, filming series and movies, all to be arranged by TVB.

Tracy also appeared at an official crowning ceremony to receive her Miss Hong Kong crown, worth $1.6 million with 38.2 carats of diamonds on it. The presentation was made by her predecessor, former Miss Hong Kong winner Pauline Yeung. She said afterwards that she has never worn anything so valuable before so she feels a bit nervous and has asked her mother to open a safety deposit box for her to keep it in.

Myolie is Angry at Allegations against her Father
Anonymous letters have been sent to various newspapers recently, alleging that Myolie Wu's father was defrauded whilst doing business in the mainland and detailing his telephone number, address and car registration number. It also appears that similar letters were previously sent to TVB and landed in the hands of the executives, who immediately questioned Myolie on the matter. After discussing this with the company and her family, Myolie had decided to call in the police, but with similar letters appearing once again, Myolie's father is once again the centre of media attention.

Currently filming in Nanjing for "Troubled Worlds", Myolie was contacted earlier and admitted that she was worried by the letters incident: "My dad has been a police officer for thirty years and after retiring last year, he and some friends invested in a business in the mainland. I have asked him about the letters and he says he does not owe anyone money and I believe his upright character is nothing like what is said in the letter."

Myolie hopes that the incident will be dealt with soon because this is affecting her father's reputation. She says: "If he did owe people money, then this person would go through legal proceedings to claim the money and needn't do these things. I am just reasoning with this and this is very unfair to my dad because the media are chasing him and he is already unhappy. The extra pressure is because I work in front of the camera and if this makes my family unhappy, then this person has achieved his goals."
