Louisa's very first TV series was "Ngoi Yau Ming Teen" (literally, "Love Has
Tomorrow") way back in 1993, but it was the uber-popular "Detective
Investigation Files" in 1994 that established her as a star. She successfully
portrayed the character Gigi, and began to have a steady following. In the same
year, Louisa also appeared in "Journey of Love", a touching story about a mom's
struggle to raise her five children on her own.
1995 was a pretty good year for Louisa. "DIF II", "Return of the Condor Hero 95"
and "Kindred Spirit" all did pretty well in the
ratings department, but the problem remained. Louisa had yet to land a leading
role.
"One Good Turn Deserves Another" in 1996 was a milestone. Louisa co-starred with
Maggie Cheung (Ho Yee) and for the first time had a role that was vital to the
storyline.
For some reason, Louisa's career failed to get to the next level in the
following years. She still had a few series every year, but all of them were
pretty blah to me. (I haven't seen "Plain Love II", so I'm not sure about that.)
Fast forward to 2001. In "The Awakening Story", Louisa worked alongside Liza
Wang and Damien Lau, two of the most distinguished actors in TVB's history. It
even won Liza the coveted "My Favorite Female Lead" award that year.
And in 2003, along came "Triumph In the Skies". Forget about Francis Ng
(although he's solid), Joe Ma, Flora Chan, Myolie Wu, Michelle Ye and the S4.
Louisa So, Jerry Lamb and Shek Shau stole the show.
Besides TV series, Louisa also had a few memorable films under her belt. She
starred in the film version of "I Have A Date with Spring" in 1994 and received
a "Best Supporting Actress" nomination for the prestigious Hong Kong Stage
Performance Award. (In the ATV production, Joey Meng played the same character "Fung
Ping".)
"The Mad Phoenix" was another career highlight. Louisa received a "Best
Supporting Actress" nomination again, and Tse Kwan-Ho won the Golden Horse Award
for Best Actor at the 1998 Golden Horse Awards in Taiwan.

Misleading Track

Five Years ago, Hong Kong citizen YAN TING (SO YUK WAH, LOUISA) was wrongly found guilty of murdering
her husband LAU KAI CHUNG (WAN SIU LUN, DERIC) in Taiwan.
Ting is released and returned to Hong Kong. She still believes in justice and has faith in regaining
what has been stripped from her. She is shocked when she meets a man BEN YUEN (also
played by WAN SIU LUN, DERIC) who looks exactly like CHUNG. However, CHUNG was
certified dead in Taiwan. TING is completely bewildered at BEN's existence. The
truth is slowly revealed and TING decides to strike back, but BEN sets TING up for jail
again. Fortunately. she meets a warm-hearted lawyer LEO LAW (Lam, BOWIE). LEO
works hard on her case. His effort seems to have paid off when he digs further
into the truth. The real relationship between BEN and CHUNG is revealed and hits
TING like a thunderbolt.
BEN liaises with LEO's good friend RAYMOND YAU (TSANG WAI KUEN) to fight LEO and TING. They gradually
drag LEO further into the case, running both his career and marriage. LEO, who
always believes in justice, is forced to associate with BEN. TING's faith in
life is challenged as she hesitates between justice and revenge. Finally, she
makes a decision.
