Ron & Leila Promoting Ice Cream
Young idols Ron Ng and Leila Tong were invited to promote a certain brand of ice cream products as guest hosts, where they not only tried out the ice cream, but also played games with the audience, attracting quite a crowd.

Leila says that she likes to eat ice cream, but will not eat too much, so she is not afraid of getting fat. Her record is eating a rice bowl full of ice cream and her favourite is ube flavoured ice cream. Asked if she will gorge herself on ice cream when she is unhappy, she says that she actually loses her appetite when she is sad and eats more when she is happy. She remembers when she was filming for "Twin of Brothers", the weather was extremely hot and when they had refreshment breaks, the tea and coffee was swapped for ice creams and ice pops to make everyone happy. Leila seems to have gained a tan recently and looks very healthy. She says that this is because she has been filming for "Legend of Ah Wong" lately and is often out on location, which has given her a healthy glow. She says that she looks unhealthy when he is pale, so she prefers to have darker skin.

Ron has also tanned lately and he says that this is intentional because he likes to have darker skin and so he has been tanning under the lamps as well as on the beach. He will only go sunbathing in shorts though because he is afraid of looking unattractive because of his hairy legs. When it was pointed out that it was normal for men to have hairy legs, he says: "I have some male friends who do not have any leg hairs and I tried to touch his leg out of intrigue but he pushed me away quickly."

Gigi Wong back at TVB
Gigi Wong's new show about making soups began airing this week and a special press conference for the show was attended by stars including Bosco Wong, Nnadia Chan, Winnie Shum and Patricia Liu. This show will introduce the specialities of Chinese soup, so Gigi and the location crew will be out and about on the mainland, seeking out the best soups to share with the artistes and reveal the secret of 'Long Life Soup'.

During the event, Winnie appeared to refer to Gigi as her 'mother-in-law' and she explained that as her mother and Gigi are good friends, they had made a wedding pact for their children before Winnie was born. However, as they both have their respective partners now, then this arranged marriage will be unlikely, but Winnie still refers to Gigi affectionately as 'mother-in-law'. She laughs that the does not refer to Gigi's husband as father-in-law, just 'uncle'.

Gigi has been out filming in Shaoqing and Panyu and will soon be going to Zhongshan. Asked if there were any funny stories, she tells of when she wore gloves to film, then no-one else was wearing them, so she had to take them off, but later when she didn't wear gloves, they went digging for some tubers, everyone else was wearing them and she ended up having to borrow some gloves to avoid injuring herself. Also, Gigi had taken all the measures to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes, but she forgot about the fleas and she was bitten on the face by a flea that left a red patch for over a month. Now she knows to take her own pillow with her when she films on location. Although it has been hard work, Gigi has returned with many great soup recipes and she will soon be collating these in her own book.

Having been quite a magnet to negative press, Bosco has met with another piece of gossip recently, where he was photographed taking Myolie Wu home and being involved in a four-party relationship. Asked about this, Bosco indicated that he is not dating Myolie and insisted that he was just giving a lift to a colleague, so when he saw the report, he found it rather amusing. He says: "On that day, I was working with Myolie at TVB City and we were visited by Christine Ng. Myolie said that she has been very tired lately and daren't drive herself and I happened to be eating at TKO that day, so Myolie called me after work and asked me to give her a lift home. We did not eat together at all, so I found this report quite funny."

Bosco adds that when the reporters photographed him, they asked him if he was dating and he had already explained to them that they are just colleagues and he was just giving her a lift to Kowloon. Will he be avoiding being seen alone with female artistes in the future? He says: "That would be rather bad! I don't like not helping friends and it was on my way, but I will try to keep a lower profile. (Are you dating anyone?) No. (What are your chances with Myolie?) She is a good girl and we are friends who have worked well together on series, but I just want to concentrate on my work at the moment and we are fine as good friends." Bosco says that he has signed an eight-year contract with TVB, so he hopes to achieve some success with the company, but even if he does start dating, then it will not affect his work. Asked if he feels that he has a lot of negative press, he forces a smile and says: "It can't be helped, if the paparazzi want to photograph me, then I can't exactly cover their lenses. It is to be expected in this industry."

Lee Young Ae in HK
"Jewel in the Palace" star Lee Young Ae visited Hong Kong this week and raised once again the fanmania surrounding the show. At a press conference, accompanied by her manager and TVB General Manager Stephen Chan, attended by media from Korea, Japan, China and Hong Kong, she presented Mr Chan with an ancient Korean Imperial Plate, whilst Mr Chan gave her a crystal vase on behalf of TVB.

Greeting the press by introducing herself in Mandarin, Lee indicated that although she felt a little unwell when she arrived, a good night's rest and the warmth from the Hong Kong fans has made her feel much better and she hopes that she can bring happiness to all. Later, Lee signed a life-sized poster of her Jang Geum character, writing in English: "Thank you so much for my HK fans" before waving to her fans and showing a beautiful smile. Her professionalism continued during the question and answer session as she noted down every question before responding with a sweet smile.

Lee indicated that she had visited Hong Kong before in 2001, but it was very different this time because so many people know her and it puts a lot of pressure on her. With so many other stars of the show having visited Hong Kong earlier, Lee was asked why she is so late and she explained that she has been busy filming and has had to rest first. Asked how she felt about the show reaching record ratings across the whole of South East Asia, Lee says that she was rather worried when she was filming it because there were so many historical references and it seemed confined to the Korean audiences, but with the acceptance of so many viewers in the region, this makes her very happy indeed. She has learned a lot from making the series, including some philosophies on life, such as success breeding from hard work, knowledge and curiosity. She says that filming the series was very hard work because sometimes she only had one or two hours sleep, but to have this success is her satisfaction and fortune.

With many rumours linking her to male stars, Lee was asked why this was and she laughed as she replied that she should go and ask them first before responding to this question. As for what she looks for in a partner, she says as long as they are mutually in love, then there is nothing special she wants. Asked if she would be working in any Hong Kong productions, Lee says that she met with Wong Kar-wai and Tony Leung Chiu Wai at a film festival earlier and has expressed a wish to work with them. She has also had offers from Hong Kong and mainland producers, but the right role and script has not yet arisen.

With the Korean media labelling her as 'The Pride of the Korean People', Lee was asked what she has to say to her countrymen and she syas that she hopes that they will love the country and their culture as well as learn to have the spirit of Jang Geum. As the event drew to a close, Lee thanked once again the Japanese and Beijing media for their interview and the fans for their support. She hopes that everyone will continue to enjoy Korean films, series and the Korean culture and love Korea even more.

Moses is new Press Target
A report has emerged in 'Sudden Weekly' that suggests Moses Chan has dumped Bernice Liu in favour of a married woman! The woman in question is no other but Moses and Bernice's TVB manager Carri. On a radio interview, Moses explained that the reason that he was hugging Carri on that night was because he wanted to thank her for his birthday present and for no other reason. He says that when he was asked about the report by his friends, he felt very uncomfortable because Carri has always treated him very well and she is like half a mother to him. His birthday is on 16th May and Carri had given him an early birthday present that night. He says: "At the time when I received the present from her, I did not know how to say thank you to her, so I put my arm on around her shoulder. When I don't know what to say, then I will put my hand on people's shoulders." Asked if he would do the same to Bernice, Moses laughs that he has to be more careful with girls. He says that most people should know that Carri is his manager and these reporters should know better, but if their company wants them to make something of it, then there is nothing he can do about it.

The reports indicate that Carri has been very good to Moses, requesting that his monthly base salary is raised from $8000 to $15,000 and also raising his filming fee from $3000 to $11,000 per episode. Asked about this, Moses says he does not want to discuss his salary in public, but that these figures are not correct, but there is nothing he can do about these open attacks against him. Asked if he has comforted Carri, he says that the reporters not only showed photographs of Carri, but also of her husband and daughter and this is very intrusive on her family life. He also points out that they do not have 'pet names' for each other as the report suggests, as she just calls him 'Ah Mo' and he calls her 'Carri Ma'.
